Foldable “Tsutsui” Wine Glass for Full Outdoor Aroma, Flavor and Color Launches Early on Makuake

On Saturday, March 29, a new version of the foldable wine glass “Tsutsui,” featuring a rim just 0.75 mm thick, began advance sales through Makuake.

Tsutsui was created in response to demand for a glass that lets people fully enjoy the taste, aroma and color of drinks even outdoors.

Here are the details.

About “Tsutsui”

Tsutsui is a new product developed by Tsutsui LLC.

The glass features an ultra-thin 0.75 mm rim, a patented structure that allows it to be disassembled and folded for carrying, and a transparent material selected with safety in mind.

At campsites and barbecues, alcoholic drinks can play an important role in enriching outdoor experiences by making food more enjoyable, enlivening conversation with friends and family, and adding atmosphere around a campfire.

Yet paper and plastic cups are commonly used outdoors. Disposable and durability-focused containers can have an unpleasant mouthfeel or low-quality feel that prevents a drink’s original appeal from coming through. Tsutsui was developed to address that problem.

Key Features of “Tsutsui”

The first standout feature is the thin rim.

Even high-quality wine glasses typically have rims around 1.1 mm thick according to the company, while this product achieves just 0.75 mm, giving a smooth, clean mouthfeel and allowing the drink’s flavor to come through directly.

For outdoor portability, the glass can be taken apart and folded to roughly palm size, helping protect the delicate rim from impacts.

Previous versions were available only in black. In response to requests to enjoy the natural color of drinks, the new version uses transparent TPX, a material also used in medical devices, combining high quality with internationally recognized safety standards.

It can be used for both cold and hot drinks.

Sales on Makuake are planned from Saturday, March 29 through Wednesday, June 25.
