Urushiyama Orchard, a long-established fruit farm in Nanyo, Yamagata Prefecture, is offering “Urushiyama Wine Sakura,” a wine blending three grape varieties, in an advance release exclusively on Makuake.
The special co-fermented wine is a luxurious blend of three estate-grown grapes: Shine Muscat, Takao and Delaware.
Here are the details.
A Challenge in Sixth-Sector Industrialization
Urushiyama Orchard is a long-established fruit farm that has grown grapes for more than 90 years and has won awards in numerous competitions.
Facing agricultural challenges such as climate change and an increase in off-grade fruit, the orchard began pursuing sixth-sector industrialization in 2013. Through cafe operations and processed-product development, it now offers a wide range of products including fresh grapes, gelato, dried fruit and bagels.
“Urushiyama Wine Sakura” was created as part of that initiative.
About “Urushiyama Wine Sakura”
“Urushiyama Wine Sakura” is based on popular Shine Muscat, blended with aromatic Takao and Delaware for moderate acidity.
It is a medium-style orange wine with a candy-like aroma and is recommended as a versatile table wine that pairs with Japanese, Western and Chinese cuisine.
Its pale, cherry-blossom-petal-like color and fruity flavor also make it well suited for gifts and special occasions.
It is also an unfiltered wine, in step with current trends.
Be sure to check it out.
