From Lumiere Winery! Full-Scale Sales of "Hop Cider" Made with Yamanashi Apples and Hops Begin!

Lumiere Winery, a long-established winery in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, began full-scale sales of its "Hop Cider" on December 5.

It is an enticing cider made with 100% apples and hops from Yamanashi Prefecture.

Here are the details of the product.

Full-Scale Sales of the Popular "Cider" Begin!

Lumiere Winery has been selling "Cider" made from "Tsugaru" apples grown in Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, since 2010.

Amid the recent diversification of consumer preferences, the winery explored ways to create new flavors and developed "Hop Cider" by steeping hops during the cider production process.

When they produced a limited run of only 1,600 bottles in April 2022, it reportedly sold out to great acclaim.

For this full-scale rollout, while keeping the flavor intact, the specifications have been updated with an image of an approachable drink akin to craft beer.

The bottle has been changed from clear to brown, and the volume increased from 250ml to 330ml—offering a more satisfying single-serving size designed to be easily enjoyed not only at home but also in outdoor settings.

The Appeal of "Hop Cider"

The apples and hops used as raw ingredients for "Hop Cider" are carefully selected and "100% Yamanashi Prefecture-grown."

It features "Tsugaru" apples—juicy and intensely sweet, cultivated in Nirasaki City in northern Yamanashi Prefecture—and "Shinshu Wase" hops from Hokuto City, an area at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains with a long history of hop cultivation, known for their refreshing citrusy aroma.

In addition, it offers an "easy-drinking profile" crafted with a careful balance between the natural, crisp sweetness and moderate acidity of the apples, and the refreshing aroma and bitter notes of the hops.

Furthermore, with a low alcohol content of 7%, it is a product that can be casually enjoyed even by younger drinkers or those unaccustomed to alcohol.

Keep an Eye on Yamanashi Cider, Too!

When thinking of cider, many people picture Nagano Prefecture or the Tohoku region, but Yamanashi Prefecture's cider is by no means outdone.

Why not take this opportunity to try "Hop Cider," a specialty cider from Yamanashi Prefecture?
