Grape-Derived Ingredient Developed by Hokkaido Wine Adopted for New Morinaga “Koeda” Product!

A grape-derived ingredient researched and developed by Hokkaido Wine Co., Ltd. has been adopted for a new product in Morinaga & Co., Ltd.’s long-selling “Koeda” chocolate snack line.

The companies aim to create sustainable value by using the ingredient in a long-selling product.

Here are the details.

“Hokkaido White Grape Skin Powder”

The ingredient adopted for the new Koeda product is “Hokkaido White Grape Skin Powder,” jointly developed by Hokkaido Wine and NOF Corporation.

Hokkaido Wine has worked to make the greatest possible use of grape skins produced during winemaking with 100% Japan-grown grapes rather than discard them, powdering the skins with proprietary technology and developing applications as a food ingredient.

“Hokkaido White Grape Skin Powder” is made with 100% Hokkaido-grown Niagara grapes. The new product is said to combine a gently expressed grape character with the sustainable story of Hokkaido winemaking.

Features of “Hokkaido White Grape Skin Powder”

“Hokkaido White Grape Skin Powder” is made from the skins of 100% Hokkaido-grown Niagara grapes.

It contains functional components such as oleanolic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties, and polyphenols, and is expected to help support skin moisture.

It can also be marketed under trademarks such as “Puru Budo TM” and “Moistup Grape TM,” currently pending registration, giving the ingredient potential for use in beauty and health foods as well as other value-added applications.

The new limited-time Koeda product is scheduled to go on sale Tuesday, September 9, 2025. If you see it in stores, why not give it a try?
