The Japan Viticulture Association (JVA) will hold the 4th JVA Symposium on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Convention Hall on the second floor of Building An, Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo.

Here are the details.

About the 4th JVA Symposium

The 4th JVA Symposium is organized by the Japan Viticulture Association (JVA).

It provides an important opportunity to share knowledge and exchange views on technical advances in wine-grape growing in Japan, challenges surrounding the supply system for grapevine nursery stock, varietal development, and ways to foster a distinctive Japanese wine culture.

Program

The symposium consists of Part 1, a lecture program, and Part 2, a wine tasting.

Among the wines scheduled for tasting, Ajimu Budoushu Koubou will pour Tannat 2023 and Mencía 2023 made using JVA-certified nursery stock.

Wines supplied by JVA-member wineries will also include domaine tetta's 2023 Cabernet Franc, Obuse Winery Co., Ltd.'s Cépage European 2023, and Alps Co., Ltd.'s Musée du Vin Matsumotodaira Black Queen.

The tasting is expected to feature more than 40 wines, including wines made from experimental varieties available only on this occasion, together with opportunities to speak directly with producers.

If you're interested, consider attending.
