Some Japanese wine fans may love figs just as much as grapes.
Starting Wednesday, February 8, Kawanishi City in Hyogo Prefecture began sales of fig wine.
It is said to be a luxurious bottle crafted using 100 percent morning-picked bounty.
Here are the details.
Lavishly Using the Morning-Picked Bounty
Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, is one of Japan's leading fig-producing areas and is also known as the birthplace of modern fig cultivation in Japan.
To ensure they are enjoyed in the most delicious condition, Kawanishi City's figs are harvested fully ripe in the early morning and shipped to markets on the same day.
The fig wine being released this time, "THE MORNING DEWDROPS - Kawanishi no Asatsuyu", is also a bottle brewed from fully ripe figs harvested early in the morning, true to its name.
Brewed by Manns Wine
"THE MORNING DEWDROPS - Kawanishi no Asatsuyu" was brewed by Manns Wine, a name familiar to Japanese wine fans.
With an alcohol content of around 10%, it is slightly on the lower side, finished so that you can enjoy the sweet aroma and fruity flavor of figs.
Regarding this year's quality and how to enjoy it, a representative from the city's Industrial Promotion Division commented, "Because we use high-quality, fully ripe figs as ingredients, we believe you can enjoy the fresh flavor and aroma as if you were eating the fig itself."
It is surely a precious bottle that can only be tasted here.
Enjoying Various Kinds of Wine!
"THE MORNING DEWDROPS - Kawanishi no Asatsuyu" is available in a limited run of approximately 3,800 bottles at locations such as the JA Hyogo Rokko Kawanishi Agricultural Support Center and liquor stores within Kawanishi City.
