The Hakodate Attractive Town Planning Council and the creative group KAKUSIN are currently conducting the crowdfunding campaign "Hakodate XR Theater Festival -KANADE-", supported by Hakodate City.
In collaboration with local winery Hakodate Wine, they have added wines aged to the sounds of Hakodate (a 3-bottle set of 3 varieties / pledge amount 30,000 yen) as a new return gift for supporters.

About "Hakodate XR Theater Festival -KANADE-"
"Hakodate XR Theater Festival -KANADE-" is a major entertainment event launched by the Hakodate Attractive Town Planning Council, which was established in 2021 aiming for industry-academia-government collaboration centered on members from Hokkaido and Hakodate.
Hakodate, a tourist city, was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In anticipation of the post-COVID era, it is described as a regional revitalization project initiated with the support of Hakodate City, designed to revive the city by turning the entire town into a stage.
As for its content, participants move across more than 10 stages scattered throughout Hakodate while the story unfolds in real time.
At each stage, cutting-edge staging blending analogue and digital—such as "Theater x Dance x Projection", "Analogue Exhibition x AR Production", and "Recitation Drama x Live Performance"—will be showcased, allowing participants to become part of the story while experiencing an unprecedented sense of immersion.
This project looks exceptionally enjoyable not only for those who have never visited Hakodate, but especially for those who have traveled there before.
Wine Aged to the Sounds of Hakodate
Now, the reward added for supporters of this project is wine from Hakodate Wine, a name familiar to Japanese wine enthusiasts.
As mentioned at the beginning, it appears to be a rather unique wine that was "aged while listening to the sounds of Hakodate."
Three wines have been added as return gifts this time.
- "Pinot Noir" aged to the piano theme of "Hakodate XR Theater Festival -KANADE-"
- "Merlot" aged to the whistle of the Mashu Maru ship and the sounds of the harbor
- "Niagara Shibare-tsukuri" aged to the sounds of all performances at Kanamori Hall
While the winery is dedicated to using Hokkaido-grown ingredients for its products, using locally sourced "sounds" as well is a novel approach.
For Japanese wine fans, this is surely an item they would be dying to get their hands on.
