f winery, the urban winery operated by Felissimo with a view directly over the Port of Kobe, is launching a new wine.
Ahead of online sales, the winery will begin selling full bottles (750ml) of “f winery 133 Kobe Merlot Rosé” from April 5 at the f winery shop and stand café & bar area.
Here are the details.
About “f winery 133 Kobe Merlot Rosé”
“f winery 133 Kobe Merlot Rosé” is made mainly from well-balanced Merlot grown in grass-covered vineyards in Kobe’s Nishi Ward under the mild Seto Inland Sea climate, achieving good sugar levels, restrained acidity, and moderate flavor development.
The harvested grapes are delivered to f winery as whole clusters and pressed immediately while fresh. Merlot juice from another tank is added to adjust color and flavor, then the wine is fermented at low temperature for three weeks without any chaptalization. Finally, 5% Merlot red wine from the same vintage is blended in to add depth, producing an elegant and beautifully colored rosé.
What It Tastes Like
The wine features sweet-tart red-fruit aromas reminiscent of strawberries and raspberries, along with gentle spice and herbal notes derived from Merlot.
The palate is light and notably fresh, with a clean, dry finish, soft richness, and a faint lingering sweetness of fruit.
Because the rosé pairs easily with many dishes, it works well with light meat dishes such as roast chicken and sautéed pork, as well as Japanese foods including sushi and sashimi.
Salmon carpaccio, prosciutto with fruit, and other pale-pink foods also look beautiful alongside the vivid rosé color, making the wine useful for table presentation and party settings.
