About Akita-no Winery
Akita-no Winery is the first winery established in Kitaakita City, located in the northern inland area of Akita Prefecture.
The winery began restoring a former apple orchard that had become abandoned farmland in 2018 and started growing wine grapes in 2019.
It obtained a fruit-wine production license in 2022 and now handles the entire process from grape cultivation through winemaking.
One of its defining features is its challenge of cultivating European wine-grape varieties that had previously been considered difficult to grow under Akita’s climatic conditions.
The winery grows a diverse range of grapes: five red-wine varieties including Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc, and four white-wine varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Sauvignon Blanc.
The Chardonnay used for Akita-no Winery’s “Chardonnay” is grown in vineyards on the slopes of Mt. Moriyoshi, where the vines receive gentle sunlight.
The depth developed through maturation is said to harmonize beautifully with its crisp acidity, creating a rich northern finish that pairs well with fish dishes and cream-based cuisine.
Why not take this opportunity to try it?
