“Ajimu Wine Campbell Early 2021” has won Double Gold this year.
This wine is made from 100% Campbell Early grapes grown at Yamaguchi Wine Farm in Ajimu-machi, Oita Prefecture.
Campbell Early is a variety created in the United States by crossing Moore Early with 【Belvidere x Muscat Hamburg】, which was brought to Japan by Zenbei Kawakami and spread throughout the country as a grape for both table and wine use.
This wine is a red wine featuring Campbell Early's characteristic aroma reminiscent of fresh grapes, a subtly sweet flavor, and a pleasant sensation that feels just like eating fresh grapes.
About the Evaluation
The Sakura Awards is a judging competition evaluated exclusively by women, which is rare in the world.
This year, 4,652 entries were submitted, and a total of 2,325 awards were presented, including 286 Double Gold, 1,425 Gold, and 614 Silver awards.
“Ajimu Wine Campbell Early 2021” was among those honored with a Double Gold at this wine competition.
The judges highly praised it, stating: “A brilliant, bright reddish-purple color. Gorgeous, sweet aromas reminiscent of cherries and candy can be felt. While the mouthfeel gives a sweet impression, crisp acidity tightens up the whole profile. It is a sweet, easy-drinking wine with a well-balanced combination of gorgeous aromas and flavor.”
