Atelier de Fromage Co., Ltd. will open a new facility called “Mori no Cheese Terrace” in Tomi, Nagano on April 17, 2025.
The long-loved local producer is creating a new destination devoted to enjoying cheese.

About “Mori no Cheese Terrace”
The new facility is a renewal of Atelier de Fromage's original flagship location. The company produces and sells cheese and other dairy products in Tomi.
Located on the southern slope at the foot of Mt. Yunomaru, the site covers approximately 8,000 square meters. In addition to workshops making cheese and cakes, it includes a shop and restaurant. The restaurant has around 60 seats including a scenic terrace, and visitors can freely watch cheesemaking through a viewing corridor attached to the workshop.
Grand-Opening Events
The shop will sell around 15 cheeses, including Hisui, which won Super Gold at the World Cheese Awards 2021. The forest restaurant will serve high-quality cheese made from fresh milk delivered each morning along with dishes using carefully selected local ingredients.
The workshop-viewing corridor lets visitors observe cheesemaking, while paid experiences include a guided workshop tour with explanations and a tasting comparison of five house cheeses, as well as a hands-on session for making aligot, a traditional French cheese dish.
To celebrate the grand opening, special events will be held on April 19 and 20.
Bread, crêpes, and other foods will be available, while the shop will sell limited opening sets of popular products and the restaurant will offer welcome-drink service and other promotions.
Atelier de Fromage has many fans among Japanese-wine drinkers as well.
