As the very first Koshu under the Tomi label and the pinnacle Koshu of "SUNTORY FROM FARM," all eyes were on how it would be evaluated going forward.
Now, the wine has won "Best in Show"—the highest honor of the competition—at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2024.
This marks the first time in history that a wine entered from Japan has received this award.

It is known as the highest honor in the DWWA, one of the world's largest wine competitions.
Out of the 18,143 wines entered into this edition of the DWWA, only 50 wines were selected for "Best in Show."
Becoming the first wine entered from Japan to achieve this is an extraordinary feat.

"SUNTORY FROM FARM Tomi Koshu 2022" is made with 100% of the grape variety "Koshu" and is the first product to bear the name "Tomi," the flagship brand of Suntory's Japanese wine portfolio.
On the palate and nose, along with aromas reminiscent of melon, yellow peach, and mandarin orange, it presents sweet nuances evoking yellow flowers and honey. Characterized by rich fruitiness, mellow acidity, and a pleasingly bittersweet lingering finish, it is a bottle that combines concentration and exceptional elegance at a high level—a taste truly worthy of the "Tomi" name.
Regarding this award, Keiko Yoshio, Managing Executive Officer and Division COO of the Wine Division at Suntory Ltd., commented: "Releasing a wine made from 100% 'Koshu,' an indigenous Japanese grape variety, under our Japanese wine flagship 'Tomi' was a long-cherished dream for everyone involved in our wine business, beginning with the winemakers.
