The "Chikumagawa" series pursues new possibilities through an approach distinct from "Solaris," expressing the terroir of the Chikuma River basin; this bottle represents a new challenge by Manns Wines exploring the potential of Muscat Bailey A and Japan's terroir.

For "Chikumagawa Muscat Bailey A 2022," Muscat Bailey A grapes grown with trellis-trained Manns Rain-Cut cultivation in company-managed organic vineyards in the Nishihara district of Komoro City, Nagano Prefecture, were allowed to mature slowly until late October, strictly sorted in the vineyard at harvest, and fermented with wild yeasts as whole clusters without destemming.
Aged for approximately 8 months in used French oak barrels with a focus on the free-run portion and then bottled, it is a true gem of a wine.
This time, it received the "Gold Award" in the category at the "Japan Wine Competition (Japanese Wine Competition) 2024."
For Manns Wines, this reportedly marks the first Gold Award won for organically cultivated grapes as well as for the Muscat Bailey A variety.
The release is scheduled for September 2024.
