Not only in Japan, but all around the world, there are many trade shows held for wine commerce.
Among them are exhibitions that are particularly large in scale and internationally renowned.

This time, we present a report on one such event: the Asian edition of Vinexpo, "VINEXPO ASIA 2023".

CHAPTER 01

One of the World's Largest Wine Trade Shows

Vinexpo is a wine trade show hosted by Vinexposium in France.
Across multiple venues in Paris, Asia, America, India, and elsewhere, it welcomes over 78,000 visitors and more than 5,900 exhibitors from 140 countries around the world every year.

In Asia, it was held in Singapore from May 22 to 25, 2023.
The venue was the exhibition hall at Marina Bay Sands—that distinctive building everyone knows.

CHAPTER 02

A Gathering of the World's Great Wine Regions

The booths where major wine-producing nations, including France and Italy, exhibited with pride were truly impressive.

France, the reigning titan and host country, boasted the largest presence, with an overwhelming number of exhibitors.
Famous French wines familiar to wine lovers in Japan were all there. Filled with excitement, I couldn't help stopping by every single booth.

Italy was represented in regional and village groupings.
I was particularly surprised to see a dedicated booth for Valpolicella. Being able to taste wines to my heart's content here was pure joy.

Prestigious châteaux and wineries set up their own stand-alone booths, showing off their formidable strength.
The staff inside exuded poise and an unmistakable sense of prestige.

Of course, other famous regions were not to be outdone.
California, Australia, Chile, and Argentina also made a strong impression in their shared pavilion booths.

From the second day onward, exhibitors enthusiastically called out to passing visitors like seasoned street hawkers.
Both exhibitors and buyers gathered at the venue were buzzing with immense passion for wine, conducting lively business discussions in every corner.

CHAPTER 03

Message from the VINEXPO CEO

We received a message for Japanese wineries from Rodolphe Lameyse, CEO of the organizer Vinexposium.

CHAPTER 04

The Future of Japanese Wine

Unfortunately, at VINEXPO ASIA 2023, there was not a single Japanese wine booth.
There were three sake producers and "SAKURA Japan Women’s Wine Awards... was the only exhibitor.

At this event, where buyers and wine professionals gather from around the world, especially from across Asia, making the presence of Japanese wine known is crucial,I believe. At the same time, I also felt that unless we showcase Japanese wine on a certain scale, we cannot make a real impact on the global wine industry.

From now on, under the banner of "Vin Japonais," we will further accelerate our efforts to share Japanese wine with the world!

For the time being, we will focus on two markets: Hong Kong and Singapore.
To ensure that people in Asia first become truly aware of "Japanese wine" itself, we are approaching this from both promotional and sales perspectives.

The next VINEXPO ASIA 2024 will be held in Hong Kong from May 28 to May 30.
We look forward to the participation of wineries that support our initiative, as well as anyone who shares our vision and wishes to move forward together!
