Washu Awards Presents! Premium Japanese Wine Dinner — Vin Japonais Fest! World Mission! — Was Held!

On February 7, at the restaurant "Horizon Tokyo" in Shiodome, Tokyo, we hosted the Washu Awards Presents! Premium Japanese Wine Dinner — Vin Japonais Fest! World Mission! —.

Thank you very much to everyone who participated!

A wide range of guests showed great interest and purchased tickets, including not only Japanese wine enthusiasts but also gourmets and those who usually focus on overseas grand vins, as well as attendees traveling from regional areas such as Niigata, Hokkaido, and Ibaraki.

This event was the awards ceremony dinner for the "Washu Awards 2024" held in Hong Kong last November.
Accordingly, 14 wines were served, centered around items that won Platinum Awards!
The event was held in a style where award-winning producers and guests shared tables together, enjoying conversation alongside Chef Omura's French cuisine and wines.

The talk show by Mitsuhiro Anzo, Executive Winemaker at Mercian, and sommelier Wataru Iwata on the theme "The 'Now' of Japanese Wine Seen from the Global Wine Market" was a lavish session where the sommelier and winemaker shared perspectives from their respective professional standpoints, covering topics from the overseas expansion of washoku to terroir-focused discussions, emerging regions, and notable varieties and lineages.

In response, lively questions were also raised by the producers, making it a highly meaningful session.

During the awards ceremony, following the announcements for the SAKE division, Silver Awards, and Gold Awards, trophies and certificates of commendation were presented by organizer Kenneth Lee to the 10 Platinum Award items listed below, as well as to the Special Head Judge.

In the comments from the award winners, we heard about their thoughts and the behind-the-scenes stories of the winning items, allowing winners and guests to share this moving moment together despite the limited time.

Video messages from Takashi Yokomachi of Vinoble Vineyard and Atsuo Hirakawa of Hirakawa Winery, who were unfortunately unable to attend in person, were also warmly received, drawing spontaneous applause from the venue for their wonderful content.

In the "Win Notable Wines Now! Grand Raffle," Mr. Anzo presented the award-winning wines to the winning guests.
