From Wednesday, February 18 through Monday, February 23, M.I. Food Style Co., Ltd., which operates 22 Queens Isetan supermarkets mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, will hold the “Spring Shizuoka & Yamanashi Fuji-no-Kuni Fair.”
Wines from Yamanashi Prefecture will also be featured.
Here are the details.
About the “Spring Shizuoka & Yamanashi Fuji-no-Kuni Fair”
The “Spring Shizuoka & Yamanashi Fuji-no-Kuni Fair” is a limited-time event organized by M.I. Food Style Co., Ltd.
The fair brings together foods from Shizuoka and Yamanashi, the two prefectures straddled by Mt. Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain — the region presented here as “Fuji-no-Kuni.”
From Shizuoka come specialties such as kama-age sakura shrimp, known for its savory sweetness, and Kakegawa beef, a Japanese Black wagyu prized for its melting tenderness.
Bento meals and prepared dishes made with these regional specialties will also be available.
Also appearing from Shizuoka is the long-established confectioner Tagonotsuki’s “Mt. Fuji Monaka” in white-bean and ogura fillings. The confection wraps house-made bean paste, prepared with Tokachi azuki beans from Hokkaido and spring water from Mt. Fuji, in charming Mt. Fuji-shaped monaka wafers.
From Yamanashi, the lineup includes local dishes such as hand-kneaded hoto made with Medori spring water from the southern foothills of Yatsugatake, and Koshu torimotsu-ni, carefully simmered chicken offal.
Yamanashi Wine Too!
The fair will also feature alcoholic beverages from Yamanashi selected by the buyer.
Among them are Queens Isetan’s best-selling Japanese wines: Chateau Katsunuma “Oishimi Muscat Bailey A (Red)” and “Oishimi Koshu (White),” both from Koshu City.
The 2024 vintage featured here is said to have been an excellent growing year. Grapes from the Hishiyama area, regarded as one of Katsunuma’s finest vineyard sites, were generously blended into the wines, resulting in what the buyer describes as their best flavor yet.
If you have a Queens Isetan store nearby, why not stop by?
