The results of the Japan Wine Competition, which determines the pinnacle of Japanese wine, were announced recently. Now a public tasting event featuring award-winning wines and more is being held.
— This is Japanese wine's open zone —
Japanese wines bloom in remarkable diversity, nurtured by the terroir of this small island nation. Pair them with all kinds of food, listen to music while you drink, and the ways to enjoy them are endless. Come empty-handed and casually dressed. Welcome to a free-spirited celebration of Japanese wine!
Let's look at the details of a program worthy of the phrase “open zone.”
An Unprecedented Takeover of the Prefectural Government Area
The event will center on the Yamanashi Prefectural Government Annex and spread to nearby indoor and outdoor facilities including the Onshirin Memorial Hall, Kameyaza and Disaster Prevention New Building.
Relax in historic architecture, gather in lively open-air spaces, and enjoy a wide-ranging selection of Japanese wine.

Watch the Awards Ceremony and Taste Winning Wines
The Japan Wine Competition awards ceremony will take place at Venue V, “Ceremonia,” on the third floor of the Prefectural Government Annex.
Don't miss the moment when Japan's top wines of 2025 are crowned.
And at Venue A, “Aurum,” on the first floor of the same building, you can be among the first to taste Grand Gold and Gold Award-winning wines.

Three Distinct Winery Direct-Sales Areas
The Onshirin Memorial Hall in Maizuru Castle Park, Kofu Kameyaza in Koedo Kofu Hanakoji, and the Yamanashi Prefectural Government Disaster Prevention New Building will become direct-sales areas for wineries gathered from across Japan.
With a stamp card in hand, visitors can taste each winery's proud selections, including award-winning wines.
Found a favorite? Bottles can also be purchased.
Whether you're new to wine or a devoted wine lover, everyone can make the rounds together.
A wide variety of food booths are also expected.
Different Tickets for Different Ways to Enjoy the Event
Some visitors will want the full experience — watching the awards ceremony and tasting all the winning wines — while others may prefer to drop by casually and discover delicious wines that suit their tastes. Everyone enjoys an event like this differently.
Several ticket types are available to match different goals.
Choosing the ticket that fits what you want to experience makes it easier to enjoy the event efficiently.
