JR East View Tourism & Sales Co., Ltd. is now offering the tour "Brewing Dreams at the Foot of Mt. Chokai: A Journey to Enjoy New Akita Wine – Meeting Kosei Toyoshima of TOYOSHIMA FARM."
This 2-day, 1-night tour allows participants to experience the story of Mr. Toyoshima and his wine, who stayed true to his convictions and continued to take on the challenge of grape cultivation in a terroir considered unsuitable for winemaking.
About the Tour
"Brewing Dreams at the Foot of Mt. Chokai: A Journey to Enjoy New Akita Wine – Meeting Kosei Toyoshima of TOYOSHIMA FARM" is an overnight monitor tour planned as part of the "Accompanying Regional Development Project Utilizing Vineyards" implemented by the Akita Branch Office of East Japan Railway Company.
At the foot of Mt. Chokai—an environment by no means blessed as a wine-producing region due to heavy snowfall and abundant rain—driven by the wish to "preserve this beautiful rural landscape for the future," Kosei Toyoshima began taking on the challenge of wine grape cultivation in 2016 and opened a winery in 2024. In this tour, participants can interact directly with Mr. Toyoshima, representative of TOYOSHIMA FARM, while enjoying pairings with local ingredients and the blessings of nature, mountain, and sea from the Yurihonjo area in Akita Prefecture.
