Keyaki Publishing Co., Ltd., which disseminates information specialized in the Tama area of Tokyo, has opened "BALL. DEPARTMENT," a "Tama department store" fusing print media and an e-commerce site.
It is reported to offer high-rarity shopping, allowing customers to purchase one-of-a-kind products handcrafted by artisans using local resources, as well as services that provide limited, site-original experiences.
Let's take a look at the details.
About "BALL. DEPARTMENT"
Unlike ordinary e-commerce malls, "BALL. DEPARTMENT" is a story-experiential shopping site where you learn about the passion behind how products are created, experience them firsthand, and purchase their value.
It is said to offer products along two axes: heartfelt products (goods) made with local resources, and experiences (events) where you can actually meet people active in the region.
For example, it is a distinctive e-commerce site featuring items that cannot be purchased on typical shopping sites, such as "Kuro Hachijo," the only mud-dyed silk textile remaining in Japan from Akiruno City, and "Murayama Oshima Tsumugi," a traditional craft from Musashimurayama City that dates back to the Edo period.
Wine is also featured!
Products available for purchase on BALL. DEPARTMENT are also introduced in the pages of the information magazine "BALL."
The opening feature of VOL.5 is titled "The Work of Fermentation," and Le Moing Tokyo (natural wine / Mitaka) is also featured.
In addition, with content such as a dialogue between fermentation designer Hiraku Ogura and Hiroyuki Ono of BONUS TRUCK, it is an issue wine lovers will certainly want to note.
Check out the "Fermentation Event" too
On Saturday, November 26, a "Fermentation Event" celebrating the release of BALL. VOL.5 will be held.
Plans include an exhibition of products sold on BALL. DEPARTMENT, as well as a tasting of new natural wines by Le Moing Tokyo.
If you are interested in Tokyo's Tama area, why not check it out?
