TADAYOI Ama Glamping Launches Plan Featuring Ama Town History, Food, and Shimane Wine

TADAYOI Ama Glamping, located on Nakanoshima in Ama Town, Oki District, Shimane Prefecture, launched a new plan on July 1 for guests who want to immerse themselves in the town's history and food culture.

The plan also includes Shimane wine.

Here are the details.

About the Plan

TADAYOI Ama Glamping has introduced a plan for guests who want to fully experience the history and cuisine of Ama Town.

Emperor Go-Toba is said to have been exiled to Nakanoshima in the Oki Islands, now Ama Town, after losing the Jokyu War in 1221. Ama has long been regarded as a “Miketsukuni,” a region supplying food to the imperial court, and wooden tablets excavated from the Heijo Palace site indicate that products such as dried abalone from Ama were presented to the capital.

The island's abundance of food is also said to have been one reason it was selected as a place of exile for a person of such high status.

Under the plan, guests will participate in an evening prayer ceremony at Oki Shrine, where Emperor Go-Toba is enshrined, and enjoy a luxurious BBQ dinner featuring plentiful ingredients from Ama Town.

Enjoy Wine from Shimane Winery

The plan includes a special BBQ menu highlighting seasonal flavors unique to Ama Town.

It uses generous amounts of locally prized ingredients nurtured by the sea, mountains, and land, prepared in a simple yet luxurious way that lets their natural flavors shine.

The menu includes Oki beef steak, a daily selection of premium meats, and rock oysters from Ama Town. Beverage choices include red Shimane Wine from Shimane Winery as well as grape juice.

Consider enjoying Ama's history and food together with Shimane wine.
