Zwiesel Glas, a familiar name among wine lovers, has released a unique decanter.
It is the “Symbiosis,” a premium decanter that uses 2.8-billion-year-old natural stone to keep wine chilled down to the last drop.
It is already available through the official online shop.
Here are the details.
About “Symbiosis”
“Symbiosis” is a handmade crystal-glass decanter combining the craftsmanship of skilled glassmakers and stonemasons.
The combination of carefully selected natural stone and crystal glass gives this unique product both beauty and functionality.
Design and Function
The base of “Symbiosis” is made from natural soapstone quarried in northeastern Finland and more than 2.8 billion years old.
Craftspeople carefully shape the stone to fit the decanter and engrave it with the Zwiesel Handmade logo.
The hand-blown decanter also features a special crackle finish.
While the decanter is still hot, it is immersed in a mixture of sawdust, causing the pattern to burn onto the glass amid flames. It is then returned to a glass furnace exceeding 1,300°C, reheated, and rapidly cooled in cold water, creating its distinctive crackled pattern.
This delicate technique is possible only through the experience of highly skilled glassmakers.
The exceptionally dense natural soapstone also has excellent cold-retention properties. Chilling it in a refrigerator for two to three hours before use helps keep wine at an optimal temperature for an extended period.
It is a rare decanter with a distinctly luxurious presence.
Be sure to check it out.
