Maruya Honten Nisshin Kaguyama will hold private “Special Night” events on Wednesday, June 25 and Friday, June 27, 2025.
One evening will feature pairings of eel with Japanese wines selected by a sommelier.
Here are the details.
About Special Night
Special Night commemorates the 10th anniversary in 2025 of Maruya Honten Nisshin Kaguyama.
Guests will enjoy the restaurant’s signature eel dishes in the special “Iyasaka” course, paired with sake or wine.
The project was created in collaboration with the wine and liquor shop at Hoshigaoka Mitsukoshi, another trusted local business.
The two partners share a commitment to quality and their community and aim to offer a refined experience.
Pairing with Japanese Wine
The June 25 evening focuses on sake, while June 27 features a wine pairing, providing two different experiences.
On Wednesday, June 25, Genya Murase, executive director of Kunpeki Shuzo, a long-established Konan brewery founded in 1915, will join guests for pairings of sake and eel.
On Friday, June 27, the theme will be Japanese wine. Sommelier Eri Tateishi of Hoshigaoka Mitsukoshi will select domestic wines suited to the eel dishes.
After a toast with sparkling wine from Azumino Winery, white and red wines will be paired progressively through the course, with Tateishi explaining the wines during the event.
