Orion Beer Co., Ltd. has launched “Southern Cross Winery Shikuwasa,” the second fruit wine in its Southern Cross Winery series.
With the fresh aroma and light acidity of Okinawan shikuwasa citrus, it is described as a fruit wine perfectly suited to summer.

About “Southern Cross Winery Shikuwasa”
“Southern Cross Winery Shikuwasa” is a fruit wine made with Okinawan shikuwasa under the concept of “a wine for enjoying with food, created by a sommelier who knows Okinawan ingredients inside and out.”
The first release, “Passion Fruit,” launched in March last year, proved extremely popular. Stock on the official online store sold out in just four days after launch, followed by retail inventory the next month, leading to a temporary suspension of shipments.
The new product is the second release in the series and delivers a layered flavor built around Okinawan shikuwasa.
What’s Inside
“Southern Cross Winery Shikuwasa” uses an original process called “macération fruit,” in which Okinawan shikuwasa is steeped after the juice has been fermented.
Shikuwasa from the Yanbaru area is slowly macerated together with wood chips to draw out rich flavor while softening the fruit’s distinctive bitterness.
The result combines shikuwasa’s refreshing aroma and light acidity with a subtle toastiness for a complex flavor.
It is a crisp, dry style that pairs particularly well with simply flavored dishes such as fresh cheese, Japanese-style salads and fried foods.
Sales begin in Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands on July 1, 2025, followed by nationwide sales and the company’s online store on August 5.
