With the arrival of May, wine events in various regions have made a complete comeback.
Amidst this, in the wine town of Shiojiri, the "Shiojiri Winery Festa 2023" was held for the first time in about three years.
Blessed with fine weather, the two days of May 20-21, 2023 buzzed with over 3,000 visitors.
At Hiraide Ruins Park, the venue of the event, winery booths from Shiojiri were featured along with food stalls.
Attendees strolled from booth to booth holding cute little original lacquer wine glasses.
In addition to the recommended wines included with the admission ticket, paid tasting tickets were available for those who wished to try even more varieties. Visitors brought their own tents and chairs, truly enjoying a wine picnic.
Movie "Vin Japonais" First Screening in Nagano Prefecture
The movie "Vin Japonais" features many wineries from Shiojiri.
It will be screened at the Shiojiri movie theater "Higashiza" from Saturday, May 27 to Friday, June 2. This marks its first screening in Nagano Prefecture.
To coincide with the timing of the Shiojiri Winery Festa, the "Vin Japonais Wine Selection Party" was held in commemoration.
In addition to the Shiojiri wineries appearing in the film, wineries from the Azumino area also gathered.
The emcee was Mr. Hanaoka, representative of the NAGANO Wine Cheer Squad. The talk with Director NORIZO about movie highlights and behind-the-scenes stories created great excitement.
Furthermore, Mayor Momose of Shiojiri City also took the stage.
With such a splendid lineup, the approximately 50 guests gathered at the venue found their wine going down even more pleasantly.
During the event, a digest video featuring only the participating wineries in the film was shown, raising everyone's anticipation for the theatrical release starting the following week.
At this event, in addition to being able to taste wines from the six wineries present, very rare Shiojiri wines preserved by the City of Shiojiri were served. The winery members themselves leaped at the chance to taste precious back-vintage wines that are no longer available for purchase.
With earnest questions about Shiojiri wine from participants and bursts of laughter spurred by the mayor's entertaining talk, it became a delightful party gathered around Shiojiri wine.
The movie "Vin Japonais" is scheduled to be screened in various other regions in the future.
Furthermore, under the theme "Sharing Japanese wine with the world!", initiatives are currently underway to bring the film to audiences in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Not limited to the regions featured in this film, NIHON WINE.JP will continue to share information about Japanese wine from various areas going forward!
