Starting in January 2023, Sato-goya—the only mountain hut on Mt. Fuji that has operated during the winter—will newly launch the "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour."
Yamanashi wine will reportedly be served with meals at the mountain hut.
Here are the details.
What is the "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour"?
The "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour" is a tour offered by Sato-goya, located at an altitude of 2,230 meters.
It is designed so that even those staying at a mountain hut or climbing Mt. Fuji in winter for the first time can enjoy a "safe," "comfortable," and "warm" stay at the mountain hut.
Featuring "Foothill Activities" where local guides provide full support for winter mountain trekking from the foot of the mountain to Sato-goya, guest rooms are secure, safe, and clean private rooms, allowing guests to spend their time warmly and comfortably even in a world with outside temperatures of -20°C. (A Wi-Fi environment is also fully equipped.)
Winter mountain climbing involves risks even for professionals, making a tour where guests can safely and securely experience that world quite rare.
Yamanashi wine and gibier
When it comes to enjoying a mountain hut, the food is certainly a highlight.
Titled "Winter-Exclusive Dining Experience," winter mountain hut meals using homegrown ingredients alongside enjoyable whimsical dishes by the owner will be served.
The menu centers around hearty mountain hut dishes such as warm pot-au-feu made with foothill ingredients and gibier venison steak grilled on Mt. Fuji lava plates.
In addition, guests can enjoy their meals alongside Yamanashi wines selected by a sommelier.
Guests can also savor experiences unique to an off-season mountain hut, such as sharing wine and conversation with the hut staff.
"Mountain Climbing × Japanese Wine"
The "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Winter Mountain Hut Stay Tour" is a must-see project for anyone drawn to the concept of "mountain climbing × Japanese wine."
Why not check it out if you are an outdoor-loving wine enthusiast?
