The Sakura Awards Office of the Wine & Spirits Culture Association will hold the judging sessions for the 12th Sakura Awards 2025 in Tokyo on Tuesday, January 28, and in Osaka on Tuesday, February 4.
This year, 3,962 items from 36 countries have been entered.

About the Sakura Awards
The Sakura Awards is an international wine competition judged by women in Japan, launched in 2014.
Its three stated goals are to “help people find wines that suit Japanese cuisine,” “contribute to revitalizing the wine market,” and “expand opportunities for women working in the wine industry.” Yumi Tanabe, who is active as a wine educator, serves as chair of the judging panel, and the competition is widely recognized as one of Japan’s authoritative wine competitions.
Many Japanese wines entered as well!
The 12th Sakura Awards 2025 has received 3,962 entries from 36 countries.
Entries from Eastern European countries have grown particularly strongly, while entries from China have also increased significantly. Japanese wine entries are up by 80 items from last year, placing Japan third in number of entries after France and Italy.
A total of 430 female wine professionals from across Japan are expected to participate as judges.
