A “Red Wine Umeshu” made with Nanko plums grown at Kindai University's Yuasa Farm will go on limited sale from Tuesday, July 1.
It will also be offered as a return gift for hometown tax donations to Yuasa Town.

About the “Red Wine Umeshu”
The project is part of a comprehensive partnership agreement signed in July 2022 between Kindai University and Yuasa Town.
Kindai University's Yuasa Farm, Yuasa Town in Arida-gun, Wakayama Prefecture, and Wakayama Yuasa Winery are collaborating to make the liqueur using Nanko plums.
Highlights of the “Red Wine Umeshu”
The plums used for the product are harvested and selected by third-year students in the Department of Agricultural Science at Kindai University's Faculty of Agriculture.
Those plums are then used in collaboration with Wakayama Yuasa Winery to produce the red-wine-based umeshu.
The product first went on sale last year and drew attention as a new combination of red wine and plum.
Unlike conventional umeshu, the plums are steeped in a red-wine base, allowing drinkers to enjoy both the character of the red wine and the fruitiness of the plums.
Sales locations include Wakayama Yuasa Winery, Yuasa Umaimon-gura, and Kindai Assist Co., Ltd.'s Higashi-Osaka office, as well as the Wakayama Yuasa Winery online shop. It is also served at numerous restaurants.
The product will also be offered as a hometown tax donation return gift.
