Nagoya Winery WINAR, opened by Veraison Co., Ltd., is the first winery in Nagoya City.
Rather than a suburban winery beside vineyards, Nagoya Winery is an urban winery located in the Endoji district of Nishi Ward. It makes fully fledged “Nagoya wine” using grapes grown in its own vineyard in Midori Ward, Nagoya City.
The winery is designed to be a place that local residents can visit casually and participate in easily.
The winery’s name, WINAR, is a coined term made from the initials of “Winery Nagoya Residents.”
The name is said to carry two meanings: “the winery belongs to Nagoya’s citizens” and “citizens who participate in Winery Nagoya.”
About the First Vintage
Nagoya Winery WINAR will officially open on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
The second floor of the winery houses its own bistro, “commone,” where guests can enjoy pairings of Nagoya wine with dishes centered on local ingredients.
On the same day, commone will host an unveiling party celebrating the release of the first vintage of Nagoya wine.
This marks the full-scale beginning of Nagoya wine’s history.
