Kyoho Winery in Tanushimaru, Fukuoka, has long worked with wines made from 100% Kyoho grapes.
The winery is renewing the label design of its long-loved “Wine no Akachan,” while carrying forward the wine’s flavor and story.
About “Wine no Akachan”
“Wine no Akachan” is a Kyoho wine created from a distinctive taste encountered by KYOHO JAPAN Co., Ltd. founder Denbei Hayashida during the Kyoho winemaking process.
Made from Kyoho grapes partway through fermentation, it combines juicy fruit character with freshness, offering a youthful, light taste before the alcohol level has fully risen.
Its faint pink color is reminiscent of a baby’s rosy cheeks after a bath. This youthful taste and charming appearance inspired the name “Wine no Akachan,” meaning “baby wine.”
The taste of “Wine no Akachan 2026”
Tanushimaru saw relatively little rain and many sunny days in 2026.
The Kyoho grapes ripened steadily under abundant sunshine, developing plenty of fruit character.
This year’s “Wine no Akachan” retains the rich fruitiness of Kyoho while offering a light drinking style at 7% alcohol.
The winery says it features the juicy, fresh aroma of Kyoho together with lively acidity and a sense of freshness.
Why not enjoy this rare expression of Kyoho that can only be tasted during fermentation?
