IMAX Inc. and MaeVino LLC have opened general applications from October 1, 2026, for the 2027 term (1st term) wine grape vine owner program at "Komazawa Vineyard," established on the rooftop of the commercial facility "KOMAZAWA Park Quarter."
Recruitment is set for 20 groups.
A New Base in Komazawa
Since last year, MaeVino has been conducting a vine owner program to grow grapes on urban rooftops at "Jiyugaoka Vineyard" in Jiyugaoka and "ZERO studio Vineyard" in Kawasaki.
Both locations reached full capacity, confirming strong interest in the experience of continuously participating in winemaking while living in the city.
In order to meet new interest, MaeVino and IMAX jointly planned the opening of a new location.
Komazawa Vineyard, MaeVino's third location, was newly established on the rooftop of KOMAZAWA Park Quarter.
About the Vine Owner Program
Each owner group will be assigned one potted grapevine, which will feature a personalized nameplate with their name.
From January to December 2027, owners will participate in activities such as pruning, shoot thinning, trellising, and harvesting; the harvested grapes will be vinified at a partner winery and delivered as wine exclusive to vine owners.
Because daily vineyard management is handled by MaeVino, no prior experience in wine or agricultural work is necessary.
You can enjoy a year-long experience of tending to grapevines alongside seasonal changes and awaiting the completion of the wine, all while living in the city.
