On Friday, February 7, the third Sorachi Wine Conference, marking the establishment of the Sorachi Wine Association, will be held at Manamiru, the Iwamizawa Civic Hall and Cultural Center.
The event is organized by the Hokkaido Sorachi General Subprefectural Bureau and the Sorachi Wine Association, which is scheduled to be established in February 2025.

About the conference
The Sorachi area of Hokkaido is one of the prefecture's leading wine regions, with 10 wineries as well as numerous vineyards.
The third Sorachi Wine Conference and Sorachi Wine Association kickoff meeting aims to promote regional development centered on Sorachi wine. It will seek to raise awareness of Sorachi wine, deepen links with a broad range of industries including distribution and tourism, and revitalize the Sorachi region as a whole. Lectures and a panel discussion will be held under the theme “Wine and the Region.”
Program
The keynote lecture will address “The Future of a Wine Region Growing Together with Its Community,” while the panel discussion will focus on “Sorachi Wine and Wide-Area Collaboration: What Lies Beyond.”
There will also be a greeting from the newly forming Sorachi Wine Association, organized by wine-grape growers and others in the Sorachi region.
The original application deadline was Wednesday, January 15, but people who still wish to attend are asked to contact the Sorachi Wine Office of the Hokkaido Sorachi General Subprefectural Bureau.
