Starting Wednesday, December 4, 2024, "Kawauchi Wine," a specialty product of Kawauchi Village, will go on sale at approximately 50 FamilyMart stores that carry alcoholic beverages in Fukushima Prefecture.
This release is being conducted as part of "Joy for 'You'," one of the five key action themes continually pursued by FamilyMart Co., Ltd.

Initiatives by FamilyMart and Kawauchi Wine
In October 2024, a "Grape Harvest Volunteering" initiative was carried out by FamilyMart franchise owners in Fukushima Prefecture and FamilyMart headquarters employees.
This volunteer activity was undertaken to harvest grapes to be used as raw material for the new wine going on sale in December 2024.
This commercial launch came about after FamilyMart was introduced as a sales channel thanks to a comprehensive partnership agreement between Fukushima Prefecture and ITOCHU Corporation, making the offering of "Kawauchi Wine" at FamilyMart stores in Fukushima Prefecture a reality.

Here are the wines to be released.
★ Village Chardonnay 2023
A dry white wine. Aromas of Japanese citrus fruits such as sudachi and kabosu. A unique fragrance reminiscent of gardenia flowers is the hallmark of this Chardonnay. The color is a lemon yellow with a slight greenish tinge. The palate presents complexity and depth derived from yeast fermentation. Enjoy the sharp acidity characteristic of a cool climate.
★ Village Blanc 2023
A blend of 81% Chardonnay and 19% Sauvignon Blanc. Alcohol content 11.5%, volume 750ml, dry white wine. Sauvignon Blanc lends impressions of citrus such as lemon and grapefruit. A faint herbal aroma and wild yeast fermentation further bring out the individuality of the varieties. The flavor is crisp yet rich, allowing you to enjoy a pleasant and distinct acidity.
★ Village Merlot 2023
A dry red wine. Fermented with wild yeast via pied de cuve and bottled with only coarse filtration, it is finished with an abundance of umami. It features unmistakable Merlot aromas of plum and violet.
