JTB Corp. has launched a new style of domestic travel product titled "Journeys to Restore Mind and Body" through its luxury travel boutique "Royal Road Ginza."
Among the tours, there are also offerings related to Japanese wine.
Let's take a look at the details.
What is "Journeys to Restore Mind and Body"?
"Journeys to Restore Mind and Body" is a new style of domestic travel product created to respond to the growing interest in wellness—the health of mind and body—and the diversification of values that emerged through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Collaborating with JTB branches nationwide, it features itineraries that promote physical and mental well-being by incorporating ingredients and elements unique to each region, while also introducing aspects of "Adventure Tourism," a travel style widely embraced and drawing attention in Europe and North America.
In addition, people who love the land and are passionate about passing down its history and culture are featured as local guides.
Katsunuma & Southern Foothills of Yatsugatake Wine and Gastronomy
Various tours are included in this lineup; here, we introduce one of them: "Meeting People Who Nurture Food in Fertile Land: Katsunuma & Southern Foothills of Yatsugatake Wine and Gastronomy 3-Day Journey."
This tour is designed to allow guests to experience with all five senses the growing environment—such as soil, location, and climate—that influences the taste of wine and vegetables in Katsunuma, Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese winemaking.
In Katsunuma, an area densely packed with about 80 wineries, participants will listen to stories from the owner of a long-established shop that has long operated Katsunuma Winery Market, and visit winemaking facilities to tour areas not normally open to the public.
At the southern foothills of Yatsugatake, visitors will meet Mr. Yasunobu Komaki, who owns a vineyard there, and enjoy grape-growing experiences, wine tastings, and dinner paired with Yamanashi wine to savor the food culture unique to Yamanashi.
Learning Through Travel
Other tours in this series include "Gastronomy × Anti-Aging × Health: Special Lecture by Chef Masayuki Okuda of Al-ché-cciano and Dr. Akira Aoki – A 3-Day Anti-Aging Journey Experienced in the Sacred Land of Ingredients, Yamagata Shonai."
Products such as "Walking the Island's Nature and Satoyama to Experience the Water Cycle with Taro Watanabe: 5 Days to Yakushima, Forest of Giant Trees Marking Timelessness" will also be released.
