Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, was designated as a Wine Special Zone in 2008.
While small in scale, high-quality wine production takes place here, and its distinctive wines and wineries are drawing attention as a new attraction of Hokuto City.
This time, Hokuto City in Yamanashi Prefecture has launched a comprehensive information site to raise awareness of such locally produced wine.
In addition to disseminating information about Hokuto City's wine culture, the site also features scenes from a media tour visiting wineries and vineyards that was conducted in October 2023.
About the Media Tour
"HOKUTO WINE Tourism Touring with a Sommelier" was held in October 2023.
This was a 2-day, 1-night fam tour organized to disseminate information to many people both in Japan and abroad who are interested in wine and gastronomy, with 5 participants from 5 companies, including wine influencers, taking part.
Through visiting and touring vineyards and wineries within the city alongside a sommelier, harvesting experiences, tastings, wine seminars, and pairings with local ingredients, participants experienced the high quality and distinct, characterful appeal of Hokuto City wines.
Going forward, Hokuto City reportedly plans to support businesses that host tours leveraging local features, such as vineyard tours guided by sommeliers against the backdrop of beautiful mountain scenery, winery visits, and collaborations with regional cultural facilities.
