Hidakaara Inc. has opened reservations for a special hometown-tax experience in Shirakawa Village, Gifu Prefecture, home to the World Heritage site Shirakawa-go, inviting participants to take part in shaping the region’s future.
The program includes a tour of Shirakawa-go and a “future sake brewery” with actor Takuro Tatsumi, a walk through the gassho-style village, and a special pairing experience featuring sake and Japanese wine.

About the program
The newly launched hometown-tax exclusive experience is designed not simply to consume a completed tourism resource, but to let participants share in the vision from a place where nothing has yet been built: the planned site of a new brewery scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.
On the tour, actor Takuro Tatsumi, who has deep knowledge of Japanese drinking culture, and Hisanori Watanabe, president of Watanabe Sake Brewery, will accompany participants.
Guests will walk through the gassho-style settlement, visit the planned brewery site, and enjoy a full-course meal of local ingredients paired with sake and Japanese wine while talking in depth with the two hosts.
Experience details
The program includes a visit to fields growing Yamada Nishiki sake rice, the area around the planned brewery site in Shirakawa Village, and the gassho-style settlement.
Participants then move to TOYOTA Shirakawa-Go Eco-Institute for a full-course meal centered on local ingredients, accompanied by sake and Japanese wine, while discussing the future of production regions and drinking culture from their respective perspectives.
The donation amount is ¥300,000 per person or ¥550,000 for a pair.
Capacity is limited to 30 participants, with a minimum of 20 required for the program to operate.
