Stocked with over 1,000 bottles of Japanese wine! "Hotel La Vigne Hakuba by Onko Chishin" opens December 19 in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture!

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, Onko Chishin Inc. opened "Hotel La Vigne Hakuba by Onko Chishin" in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture, renowned as one of Japan's leading snow resorts.

Featuring a restaurant where guests can enjoy teppanyaki and French course meals made with seasonal Shinshu ingredients alongside over 1,000 bottles of Japanese wine, this marks the birth of a must-visit accommodation for Japanese wine fans.

Here are the details.

About "Hotel La Vigne Hakuba by Onko Chishin"

"Hotel La Vigne Hakuba by Onko Chishin" is a 38-room alpine resort hotel developed by List Development Co., Ltd. of the List Group and operated by Onko Chishin.

Located in "Echoland," the central district of Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture, which is known as an international mountain resort, the facility features open mountain views overlooking the majestic nature of the Northern Alps, as well as amenities tailored for group stays and long-term stays.

In the restaurant, fully equipped with a massive cellar housing over 1,000 bottles of Japanese wine carefully selected by a wine concierge who once entertained world leaders at the Hokkaido Toyako Summit by visiting wineries across the country, guests can enjoy teppanyaki and French course meals using seasonal Shinshu ingredients.

Wine-themed opening ceremony

On Tuesday, December 17, an opening ceremony was held ahead of the grand opening on Thursday, December 19.

Attendees included Tomoki Matsuyama, President and Representative Director of Onko Chishin; Hiroyuki Kiuchi, President and Representative Director of List Development Co., Ltd.; Sumihiro Hirotani, President and Representative Director of Archivision Co., Ltd.; and Toru Konishi of Villa d'Est Winery Co., Ltd.

On that day, since the hotel name "la vigne" means "grapevine" in French, instead of a conventional ribbon-cutting, a special performance was held where soil collected from the five regions of the Shinshu Wine Valley—Kikyogahara, Chikumagawa, Western Foothills of Yatsugatake, Tenryugawa, and Nihon Alps—prime wine-producing areas within Nagano Prefecture, was placed over young Merlot and Chardonnay vines, highlighting the vital role wine plays for the hotel.

Just as it takes about three years for grapes to bear delicious fruit, this ceremony embodied the wish that La Vigne Hakuba will continue to mature amid the rich nature of Shinshu and remain a hotel that contributes to the local community's development.

The birth of a resort hotel attracting the attention of Nagano wine fans and Japanese wine fans alike.

It is an aspirational hotel that you will want to visit at least once.
