Sapporo Breweries Ltd. will begin limited sales of two wines—“Grande Polaire Hokuto Chardonnay 2024” and “Grande Polaire Hokuto Merlot 2023”—from Tuesday, August 5.
Hokkaido Hokuto Vineyard is an estate vineyard opened in 2018 as part of a new stage in the company’s pursuit of premium wine grapes in Hokkaido, a region well suited to high-quality viticulture.

About “Grande Polaire Hokuto Chardonnay”
“Grande Polaire Hokuto Chardonnay” is characterized by expressive aromas and refreshing acidity.
The wine debuted in 2023 with Chardonnay harvested in 2022 as its first vintage. Its second vintage won a gold medal at the Japan Wine Competition 2024.
The new release is the third vintage and is said to offer an even more polished expression.
About “Grande Polaire Hokuto Merlot”
“Grande Polaire Hokuto Merlot” is the new vintage of the vineyard’s first red wine, which debuted last year.
This second vintage is described as an elegant, well-balanced Merlot.
