The designation of both sake and wine under the Geographical Indication "GI Nagano" was actually a nationwide first.
While both Nagano Prefecture-produced sake and wine had already been drawing attention, this designation as "GI Nagano" has brought even greater focus to them.
A Symposium Drawing Attention from Japanese Wine Fans
The "GI Nagano Startup Symposium" is organized by the Kanto-Shinetsu Regional Taxation Bureau.
Held in cooperation with the Nagano Sake Brewers Association and the Nagano Wine Association, the symposium will reportedly be moderated by TV Asahi announcer Mariko Do.
In addition, Hiroyuki Ichikawa (Chairman of the Sake and Shochu Committee), Takashi Kikuchi (Chairman of the Wine Committee), Ritsuko Shimada (Sake Stylist), Shizuka Midorikawa (actress), and Kyoko Otaki (Executive Director of the Japan Sommelier Association) will also appear.
In the panel discussion, they plan to discuss various themes regarding "GI Nagano" from multifaceted perspectives.
It promises to be a symposium that not only Japanese wine fans but all sake and alcoholic beverage enthusiasts should take note of.

General attendance is open to those aged 20 and over, participation is free of charge, and it will be streamed online from Mielparque Hall. (Participation via Zoom)
