Singular, the main dining restaurant at Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, has received an “Award of Excellence” in the Restaurant Awards 2026 organized by the internationally renowned wine magazine Wine Spectator.

A Luxurious Setting with Japanese Wine
Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto is operated by Banyan Group, one of the world’s leading independent hospitality groups.
Its main dining restaurant, Singular, received an “Award of Excellence” in Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards 2026.
The award is presented to restaurants offering outstanding wine lists and service, with evaluation covering factors such as the range and quality of wines and their harmony with the cuisine.
Singular offers around 130 labels and approximately 430 bottles, centered on wines from France and Japan. Its wine list is designed around compatibility with French cuisine incorporating the aesthetics and techniques of Japanese cooking, with the sommelier selecting each wine while considering the balance of acidity, texture and finish.
About the Special Dinner Course
Singular is currently offering a limited-time special dinner course to celebrate its Award of Excellence.
The course pairs three carefully selected Japanese wines from the award-winning wine list—sparkling, white and red—with a 160g fillet of Omi beef from Shiga Prefecture, creating a special marriage available only during this period, with each wine bringing out the appeal of the cuisine.
It is an enticing dinner course that allows guests to fully enjoy Japanese wine pairings.
