Free Tasting Included! The 6th OIV-Registered Varieties Summit to be Held in Nagatacho on December 7!

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, the 6th OIV-Registered Varieties Summit will be held at Zenkoku Choson Kaikan in Nagatacho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

A talk session and tasting event discussing the past, present, and future of indigenous varieties.

Here are the details.

About the OIV-Registered Varieties Summit

The OIV-Registered Varieties Summit is hosted by the OIV-Registered Varieties Council.

Focusing on Japan's three grape varieties registered with the OIV (International Organisation of Vine and Wine)—Koshu, Muscat Bailey A, and Yamasachi—the council works to enhance both the domestic and international reputation of Japan's indigenous grape varieties and their wines.

At the upcoming 6th OIV-Registered Varieties Summit, a talk session will be held where all participants can share challenges and discover hints for the future of the Japanese wine industry.

Attendees will hear proposals from pioneers in history and viticulture, a report on the OIV World Congress of Vine and Wine held in France in October, and a panel discussion featuring representatives from countries with long histories of working with indigenous varieties as wine-producing nations.

Free Tasting Time

The 6th OIV-Registered Varieties Summit will also feature a free tasting session.

Approximately 30 types of Japanese wine made from indigenous Japanese wine grape varieties from wineries across Japan, as well as indigenous variety wines from the panel discussion's represented countries, will be available for tasting.

In addition, attendees can enjoy about 10 types of cheese selected by the Cheese Professional Association—popular every year—and 5 types of bread from Pasco's "L'Oven."

An irresistible event for Japanese wine fans.
