The Chikuma River Wine-Go-Round kicks off on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29.
Small-scale wineries clustered in the eastern district of the Chikuma River Wine Valley in Nagano Prefecture are hosting a variety of simultaneous events, making this a must-see event for Japanese wine fans.
Let's take a look at the details.
About Chikuma River Wine-Go-Round
The name "WINE-GO-ROUND" was given to the Chikuma River Wine-Go-Round.
It was named as a new initiative to enjoy various events held simultaneously across different locations, circulating around a specific area just like a "MERRY-GO-ROUND."
It is organized by the Shinshu Wine-Go-Round Executive Committee.
Starting this time in the Chikuma River Wine Valley East District, the goal is reportedly to expand "GI NAGANO WINE-GO-ROUND" throughout the entire prefecture of Nagano in the future.
About the Chikuma River Wine Valley
The Chikuma River Wine Valley is one of the four blocks (wine valleys) into which the prefecture is divided under the "Shinshu Wine Valley Concept."
The "Chikuma River Wine Valley East District," centered around Tomi City, is a pioneering region where nine municipalities jointly formed a wide-area special wine zone, with a cluster of 21 wineries in total in the East District (as of May 2022): 12 in Tomi City, 5 in Komoro City, and 1 each in Ueda City, Sakaki Town, Tateshina Town, and Aoki Village.
The quality of the wines produced is high, drawing attention not only from within Nagano Prefecture but from all across Japan.
