La Maison de la Rivière is a Hokkaido-based brand developed by Nakamura Promotion Co., Ltd.
The brand has released “Katakuri Pinot Noir Edition CBT 2024 La Maison de la Rivière.”
The 2024 Pinot Noir was aged in a barrel previously used for Chambertin.
Here are the details.
About Katakuri Wine
Katakuri Wine was created from a desire to release outstanding wines that make the most of each site’s character and the natural flavor of the grapes.
Nakamura Promotion Co., Ltd. plans and markets the brand, while Mamiko Ota of NIKI Hills Winery handles the winemaking.
Marketing and sales are led by two female sommeliers who studied at the same sommelier school.
Their winemaking, drawing on a delicate sensibility, has brought a fresh perspective to a traditionally conservative industry and continues to attract increasing attention each year.
About the 2024 Pinot Noir
For this release, Katakuri Wine was able to import a barrel from Grand Cru Chambertin through relationships with Burgundy-based Kaori Ishiguro, barrel maker Damy Bourgogne Tonnellerie, and Mr. Sawamura of Benidai Trading.
“Katakuri Pinot Noir Edition CBT 2024 La Maison de la Rivière” was finished by filling that barrel with Katakuri Pinot Noir, creating a bottle that connects Hokkaido and Burgundy.
The wine was barrel-aged for 10 months in a once-used “Tonnellerie Damy 228L Bourgogne 2022” barrel.
The suggested retail price is ¥16,000 per bottle before tax, and the Amazon sales page limits purchases to one bottle per person.
