Asahikawa Winery in Uryu District, Hokkaido, is releasing its first wine.
It will go on sale on May 25, 2026.
About the First Release
Asahikawa Winery’s first release is “Campbell Early 2025 Vintage.”
Made with Campbell Early grapes grown in the winery’s own vineyard, the wine is intended to express the character of Hokkaido’s nature and terroir as fully as possible. It marks the memorable first vintage for Asahikawa Winery.
Full-Scale Operations Begin
Starting with the 2026 vintage, Asahikawa Winery will further strengthen its viticulture, winemaking, and quality-control systems as it begins full-scale, locally rooted wine production.
Chef Shin Shimokuni, an Asahikawa native, the first winner of the CHEF-1 Grand Prix, and a familiar face on television, has been appointed official ambassador for Asahikawa Winery. Katsuyuki Takahashi, who previously served as production manager at Furano Wine, has also been appointed wine consultant to the winery.
On May 25, 2026, an event will be held at Daitokuji Temple in Numata, Uryu District, Hokkaido, introducing the first-release wine and presenting Asahikawa Winery’s future initiatives and the potential of Hokkaido wine.
