Let us take a closer look at the details.
The Initiative Behind "Amaou Premium Sparkling Wine"
"Amaou Premium Sparkling Wine" is a product developed by Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd.
The company has been working on the "sixth industrialization of agriculture" by collaborating with growers along the Nishitetsu train lines to plan and sell new products utilizing agricultural crops produced along the lines, and as part of this effort, it has been selling "Amaou Premium Sparkling Wine" since 2013.
Characteristics of "Amaou Premium Sparkling Wine"
Used for "Amaou Premium Sparkling Wine" are "Amaou" strawberries cultivated with great care in Yanagawa, a riverside town in the Chikugo region of southern Fukuoka Prefecture.
These hand-picked berries are brewed at a winery boasting half a century of history in Kurume, at the northern foot of the Minou Mountains.
Remarkably, 50 Amaou strawberries are used in a single bottle of wine.
Achieving a beautiful ruby color alongside the rich aroma and flavor unique to Amaou, it is said to be a premium wine born from the "connections" along the railway lines—an encounter between agricultural bounty and the "shizuku kamoshi" (drip brewing) technique.
