On April 25, 2024, its 23rd property, "KAI Akiu," will open in Akiu Onsen, Miyagi Prefecture.

About "KAI Akiu"
"KAI Akiu" is a hot spring ryokan opening in Akiu Onsen, Miyagi Prefecture, which is counted as one of the Three Famous Hot Springs of Oshu.
The ryokan is set in a quiet, secluded location within Akiu Onsen, nestled along the Natori River and surrounded by rich nature.
The concept is "A stylish moment by the colorful mountain stream."
Overlooking the mountain stream and the surrounding seasonal scenery, it reportedly features interior decor and hospitality inspired by the culture fostered around Lord Date Masamune.
In the Tohoku area, this is the second property under the KAI brand, following "KAI Tsugaru" in Aomori Prefecture, and marks its first foray into Miyagi Prefecture.

1. Guest Rooms: "Konpeki no Ma," framing the mountain stream in an azure space

Among these, the public space "Seseragi Lounge" is a special spot where floral arrangements decorate the space, incorporating flowers associated with Lord Date Masamune such as peonies and wisteria in spring, and white bush clover in summer.
While listening to live musical instruments played every night, guests will be offered a moment to leisurely immerse themselves in nature, with a drink or treat prepared according to the season in hand—such as wine from local wineries, seasonal drinks, and "Sendai dagashi" traditional sweets that have continued since the days of the Sendai Domain.
