It is a "luxurious" wine that uses about 2.3 bunches (equivalent to about 100 grapes) per 720 ml bottle of Shine Muscat, which is originally consumed as gifts.
What is 88 Double Eight?
88 Double Eight is the name of the wine.
The "88" logo represents the jewel-like shape of each Shine Muscat grape and the popping of the fine bubbles in sparkling wine; it is also said that the "8"s resemble two glasses, representing a "toast" when brought together.
Furthermore, turning an "8" horizontally creates the symbol "Infinity (∞)," naming it with the wish that special moments for you and precious times with your loved ones will continue forever.
The Taste of "88 (Double Eight)"
The Shine Muscat used in "88 (Double Eight)" was harvested in the Hokushin region of Nagano Prefecture.
Upon learning that there were Shine Muscat grapes that could not be sold for fresh table consumption, they made wine using Shine Muscat—which was not traditionally cultivated for winemaking—resulting in the birth of an elegant wine drifting with the scent of Muscat.
Used for "88 (Double Eight)" are grapes harvested after fully ripening to a color closer to yellow than the usual yellowish-green Shine Muscat.
Made from Shine Muscat with high sugar content, "88 (Double Eight)" features a solid juice flavor, making it a bottle that can be fully enjoyed on its own as an aperitif, not just paired with meals.
