Hello everyone.
Could it really be 20 years already since I began fully supporting Hokkaido wine??
I'm Sayuri Arai from Dosan Wine Oendan.
It's that time of the year again!
Vineyards in Hokkaido start with the spring thaw.
With vineyard spring work starting earlier each year, everyone at the wineries and vineyards feels rushed to get moving while it's still cold, starting off with raising the buried canes (eda-okoshi).
(Note: This does not apply to all vineyards, as training methods have been changing in some of them.)

While carrying out spring work, wineries prepare new plots for planting, bottle wine, check fermentations,
and handle shipping as busy days get underway.

Meanwhile, bud break begins, and the vineyards quickly turn completely green.
Participating in events in various regions is also an essential part of winery work.
Winemakers within Hokkaido participate in a variety of events as well.
When they visit an area near you, please go and meet them.
At Véraison, we also host events to let people enjoy Hokkaido-made wine across Japan, not to mention within Hokkaido.

Various events will continue to be held in many areas.
Please try searching using "Dosan wine" (Hokkaido wine) as a keyword.
Dosan Wine Oendan also hosts various events. Among them, our recommendation is the "Ezovin Wine Selection 2026 & Dosan Wine Festival"
A blind tasting together with winemakers, where you vote for your favorite wines. (Surprisingly, the producers themselves often can't tell which wine is theirs?!)
The goal isn't to guess the wine; the fun part of this event is finding a wine you love!
At the Dosan Wine Festival, many winemakers gather from all over Hokkaido.
Featuring over 100 varieties of wine, this event also draws visitors from outside Hokkaido.
Lately, it has almost turned into a debut event for new wineries.
This time, too, guests were among the first to taste new wines.
Aspiring winery founders who do not yet have their own wines to pour help out with reception and assist at the "Plenty of Wine Corner," packed with bottles from wineries that couldn't attend in person.
In a few years, they will be welcoming you at their own winery booths, so you can chat with them early on.
Between now and spring, there are still plenty of events featuring Hokkaido wineries both inside and outside Hokkaido.
Please be sure to join us and enjoy Hokkaido wines.

Dosan Wine Oendan also has a full lineup of upcoming events.
