Truly a Time for Adults! "artwine.tokyo" Launches Authentic Alcoholic Wine Pairings Matched with Masterpieces!

Wine and art share an inseparable relationship.

There are likely many Japanese wine fans who also have a strong interest in art.

Here is good news for such art lovers.

"artwine.tokyo", which had been serving non-alcoholic wine in consideration of the COVID-19 situation, lifted the ban on alcoholic wine starting with reservations from May 20.

Authentic pairings of paintings and wine have reportedly begun.

Let us introduce the details here.

About "artwine.tokyo"

artwine.tokyo is an establishment that opened in the Nezu and Ueno area in February 2022 to create "a place to return to being an artist" for people leading busy daily lives.

Instructors from art universities, including Tokyo University of the Arts, guide participants through completing a masterpiece; as a result, even though most participants are beginners whose last experience painting was in elementary or junior high school art class, anyone can complete a painting of surprising quality in 120 minutes.

In addition, "artwine.tokyo" carries out unique initiatives such as pairing art with wine, reportedly drawing interest from various experts.

It looks poised to become a noteworthy spot expanding new possibilities for wine in the future.

About the "Art and Wine Pairings"

As mentioned at the beginning, while "artwine.tokyo" had been serving non-alcoholic wine, it began serving alcoholic wine starting with reservations from May 20.

For pairings, dedicated artwine.tokyo J.S.A. Wine Experts affiliated with the Japan Sommelier Association capture the painter's life, character, underlying thoughts, and pictorial expressions, carefully selecting the wine considered best suited to those characteristics while researching and discussing with psychology experts and experienced sommeliers.

For example, for Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss", focusing on the sense of euphoria reflected in the gently embraced woman's expression and her dress interwoven with charming, gorgeous colors, they paired "Gamay made by Pierre Vessigaud of Pouilly-Fuissé in Saint-Amour at the northern tip of the Beaujolais region."

Japanese wine might also make an appearance in the future.

Enjoy Some Adult Time

Additionally, "artwine.tokyo" has reportedly paired E. Guigal's "Crozes-Hermitage" with Van Gogh's late work "Cypresses".

Pairing wines that match the stories of paintings is a truly unique endeavor.

Why not forget daily life once in a while and immerse yourself in art?
